Responsibilities:
● Inspect plumbing, gas, and mechanical systems to ensure compliance with local codes and ordinances
● Explain existing codes and procedures to contractors and the public
● Conduct inspections at construction sites, issuing reports on findings
● Drive to various inspection sites, meetings, and emergencies
● Collaborate with other departments and agencies on inspections and code enforcement
● Provide expert testimony regarding code violations when necessary
● Conduct follow-up inspections and address code deficiencies
● Assist in training new inspectors
Qualifications:
● Knowledge of plumbing and mechanical system design and installation practices
● Ability to read and interpret technical plans and specifications
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with property owners and contractors
● Computer proficiency for documentation and reporting
● Minimum Education/Experience:
● Completion of plumbing apprenticeship certified by the State of California and a minimum of three years of journey-level experience; OR
● A plumbing contractor with a C-36 license and a total of eight years of experience
License and Certification:
● Valid driver’s license required
