Responsibilities:
● Troubleshoot, maintain, inspect, operate, and repair underground thermal energy distribution systems.
● Monitor and operate isolation valves and metering systems.
● Maintain records of Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures.
● Prepare systems for maintenance by contractors.
● Conduct repairs and replace various types of valves and joints.
● Cut, fit, fabricate, and assemble a variety of pipe and piping systems.
● Install and maintain mechanical equipment, including pumps and condensate receivers.
● Repair mechanical system failures relating to steam traps and heat exchangers.
● Inspect projects for compliance with local standards and codes.
● Ensure adherence to safety rules and assist in creating a safe work environment.
● Operate a variety of power tools and machinery safely.
● Maintain service manuals and records as needed.
● Attend meetings and trainings regularly.
Qualifications:
● Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a plumber/pipefitter/steamfitter or full journey status.
● Minimum four years of applicable work experience (vocational training may substitute for work experience).
● Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license may be required.
● Experience with thermal energy distribution systems is preferred (5+ years recommended).
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
● Effective communication skills with clients and staff.
