Responsibilities:
● Perform field inspections of commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential structures for compliance with codes and regulations.
● Prescribe actions for conformance to codes and standards.
● Assist in planning and implementing housing rehabilitation programs for owner-occupied and rental properties.

Qualifications:
● Associates degree from an accredited institution with one year of related experience; or three years of related experience and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
● International Code Council Residential Building Inspector (B1) and Residential Plumbing Inspector (P1) certification required within 12 months of hire.
● Valid State of Iowa driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
● Must be 18 years of age and pass a criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; or four years of related experience and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
● Experience in construction/building trades.
● Certifications such as Commercial Building Inspector (B2), Commercial Plumbing Inspector (P2), or others are a plus or must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
