Responsibilities:
● Assist journeyman plumbers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems
● Identify leaks and assist with pipe installation
● Repair fixtures and clean drains under supervision
● Learn layout, code confirmation, verification, and installation of plumbing systems
● Perform basic mathematical calculations related to plumbing tasks
● Attend training sessions and educational classes as required
Qualifications:
● High school diploma or equivalent
● Must be enrolled in the ABC apprenticeship program
● Current and valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
● State of Alaska Apprentice Plumbing Certificate
● Municipality of Anchorage Apprentice Plumbing Certificate (if working in MOA)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
● Knowledge of plumbing and heating codes
● Ability to read and understand plans, blueprints, and specifications
● Basic understanding of rigging and handling pipes
● Strong communication skills, both oral and written
● Ability to work in all weather conditions and adapt to shifting priorities
Physical Demand/Work Environment:
● Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
● Work usually performed in loud environments, outdoors, and at various job sites
● Ability to travel within and out of the State of Alaska
Additional Details:
● Rotation: 6 weeks on, 2 weeks off
● Salary: $49.40 per hour plus “Fringe Benefits”
● Location: Anaktuvuk Pass, Bethel, Tin City, Alaska
● Housing/Meals: Company provided while on site
● Schedule: 6-7 days per week, 10-12 hours per day
