Responsibilities
● Installing and repairing plumbing throughout the campus, including piping valves, faucets, plumbing fixtures, and drains.
● Performing functions related to gas fitting, steamfitting, and sprinkler fitting when necessary.
● Maintaining wastewater treatment systems to ensure they operate efficiently.
● Proficiency in assembling and installing various plumbing materials such as iron, steel, glass, copper, and plastic.
● Responding to emergency and trouble calls throughout the hospital.
● Assembling and maintaining oxygen, vacuum, and air systems.
● Soft soldering, silver soldering, and caulking joints as needed.
Qualifications
● Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma in Plumbing preferred.
● Journeyman Plumber [State License] – preferred.
● Master Plumber [State License] – preferred.
● ASSE 6010 Installer Certified preferred.
● Experience completing a three-year apprenticeship in plumbing plus 1-2 years of formal training.
● 2-3 years of plumbing experience required.
● Ability to read and follow blueprints and knowledge of Massachusetts plumbing codes.
● Physical ability to carry tools and walk throughout the hospital.
● Availability for occasional overtime and provision of hand tools.
● Ability to lift over 70 lbs occasionally (less than 15% of the time).
