Responsibilities:
● Perform a full range of skilled plumbing work including installation, maintenance, inspection, modification, remodel, and repair of various plumbing systems.
● Maintain and test plumbing systems, including backflow prevention devices.
● Assemble, install, and repair pumps, pipes, fittings, and fixtures; and cut, thread, and weld pipes.
● Inspect completed work for compliance with specifications and safety codes.
● Participate in the maintenance and operations of the plumbing shop.
● Use computerized systems for work assignments and documentation.
● Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to facilitate plumbing tasks.
● Train and provide direction to skilled and semi-skilled workers.
● Respond promptly to urgent plumbing needs to prevent damage or injuries.
Qualifications:
● Journey-level skills in the plumbing trade, ideally from a completed plumber’s apprenticeship program.
● Knowledge of plumbing theory, tools, materials, and safety regulations.
● Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
● Ability to provide instruction and direct others.
● Valid driver’s license required; candidates must obtain a California driver’s license within 10 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
● Certification from an applicable plumbing apprenticeship program.
● Current plumbing certification in California.
● Four years of journey-level work experience in plumbing systems maintenance or repair.
