    Job Description

    Job Title: Plumber Apprentice/Helper (Laborer)

    Reports To: Plumber

    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

    Summary: This is an entry level position to the plumbing field that will be mentored by an experienced plumber.

    Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    1. Assists a plumber on the job site by loading, unloading, supplying, or holding materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.*

    2. Cleans work area and/or equipment.*

    3. Ensures standards are met on all policies, building codes, and safety regulations.*

    4. Learns to read blueprints and drawings to determine exact specifications and installation placement.*

    5. Selects materials needed for installation, including type and size.*

    6. Cuts openings in structure in preparation for piping.*

    7. Measures, cuts, threads, and bends pipe.*

    8. Assembles and installs valves and fittings.*

    9. Installs supports and hangers for pipe and fixtures.*

    10. Assists with installing and maintaining plumbing systems.*

    Language Ability:

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

    Math Ability:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: From $16.00 per hour
