As a Plumbing Inspector, you will play a vital role in making New York a safer place to live. Responsibilities:
● Perform technical inspections of plumbing, gas, and fire suppression systems for compliance with building codes
● Respond to and investigate accidents and complaints regarding plumbing systems
● Conduct inspections assessing the condition of gas piping systems
● Witness tests on various plumbing and fire suppression systems
● Study drawings and information to prepare for inspections
● Issue violations, summonses, and stop-work orders
● Verify licenses of onsite workers
● Advise recipients on violations issued
● Testify as needed in legal settings
● Maintain records and reports for inspections
● Explain and enforce relevant laws and rules
● May supervise and train subordinate inspectors
● Assist supervisors as necessary
● Drive a motor vehicle to various inspection sites

Qualifications:
● Minimum of two years of relevant experience in plumbing installation or inspection
● Alternatively, a combination of one year of experience and formal training in plumbing
● Completion of an accredited plumbing apprenticeship is preferred
● Valid driver’s license in New York State required
● Ability to lift, climb, and perform physical activities related to inspections

Preferred Skills:
● Experience in designing plumbing and fire sprinkler systems
● Knowledge of NYC Construction Codes
● Computer literacy
