Responsibilities:
● Conducting all assigned field inspections of commercial/residential structures for compliance with the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (USBC)
● Maintaining a record of each inspection result in the County database system
● Keeping strict compliance with inspection time limits established by the Building Official
● Solving problems and managing special projects as assigned
● Attending all mandatory training and ensuring that required building inspector certifications are current
● Providing technical information to owners, contractors, architects, and the public in a professional and timely manner
● Responding to phone inquiries the same day received
● Communicating professionally with fellow staff and customers

Qualifications:
● High school diploma or equivalent (technical coursework in building preferred)
● Four (4) years of construction-related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
● A valid driver’s license and a good driving record
● Ability to pass criminal and DMV background checks
● Excellent problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and strong interpersonal skills
● Knowledge of policies and regulations surrounding building code regulations
● Background in construction is highly preferred
