Responsibilities:
● Perform field inspections during various stages of construction
● Read and examine plans and specifications when required
● Report violations and maintain files/records
● Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications:
● Extensive knowledge of local building codes and current construction procedures/technology
● Ability to interpret codes in the field and provide code compliant solutions
● Strong interpersonal skills for positive interactions with staff, the public, contractors, and governmental entities
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
● Good time management, organization, and attention to detail
● Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment
Education/Experience:
● IL Plumbing Inspector certification required
● ICC Residential and/or Commercial Building Inspector certification(s) preferred
● Inspection experience preferred
● ICC Inspector certifications in additional trades preferred
● Valid driver’s license and a good driving record required
