Plumbers are experienced professionals who perform skilled task in the assembly, installation, repair and maintenance of pipes, fixtures, systems and all plumbing used for water distribution and waste water disposal.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Educational development which produces analytical and problem solving skills, decision making skills, effective verbal, listening communication skills and effective written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Strong knowledge and experience providing effective customer service.
Work may involve the moving or lifting of light to moderately heavy equipment or materials, requiring physical strength and agility to withstand the strain of manual work under varying weather conditions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This position will be working in the Facilities Division. The work hours will be Monday – Friday, 6 am – 2:30 pm.
Ability to review building plans and specifications to determine the layout for plumbing and related materials. Identify and requisition required tools and special equipment. Perform scheduled maintenance on plumbing systems and fixtures. Locate and mark positions for connections and fixtures. Install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures and equipment. Assemble and install valves and fittings. Install, repair and maintain water treatment equipment, piping and controls. Install, repair and maintain sinks, showers, water fountains, commodes, urinals, water heaters, conditioners and plumbing fixtures. Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported and graded. Ensure all requirements as specified by the manufacturer of systems and fixtures are met. Schedule work in cooperation with other trades and vendors. Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet environmental protection requirements. Maintain all building codes. Performs related duties as assigned.
